The Mounted Archers

A thousand years on, the steppe inheritance is still ridden. These are Magyar horse-archers at full gallop — the bow drawn from a moving horse, the moment held at a five-hundredth of a second. Not costume; continuity. The oldest thing the Hungarians brought west, photographed as it still happens.
